Why it costs less
Internet instead of SMS.
Since 2G was switched off, gate openers can no longer place a free call. Their replacements fall back to SMS, and every SMS costs money. TapIsla uses the internet, so there is nothing to bill per opening.

It started with one gate that stopped working.
Our own gate opener went dead when the mobile network on Bonaire changed. Every module we found had the same flaw. So we built one that works, and that does not charge you per opening.
